April 6th – Queen’s Coronation
The Queen’s Coronation is an annual event where the Queen is officially crowned the North Carolina Azalea Festival Queen Azalea. After the Coronation we have an exclusive free Meet and Greet with all of our celebrities and the Queen…this is your chance to meet the Queen and the Celebrity Guests. The 2016 Queen’s Coronation will be held for the first time at Port City Marina in Historic Downtown Wilmington.
April 7th – The Avett Brothers
Tickets to The Avett Brothers at the Belk Main Stage on Thursday, April 7, 2016 are $55.00. Showtime is at 7:00 pm with gates opening at 5:00 pm. This is a rain or shine event. No ticket refunds will be granted. The Festival Ticket Office is open Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and located at 5725 Oleander Drive Suite B-7
April 8th – Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Garden Tour
Profits from the Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Garden Tour are distributed throughout our community as beautification and horticulture grants; scholarship grants at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College; and support for conservation efforts at Battery Island, a National Audubon Society bird sanctuary. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is the official beginning to the Garden Tour, and is held at Hugh Morton Greenfield Lake Amphitheater at Greenfield Lake.
April 8th through 10th – Street Fair
The North Carolina Azalea Festival Street Fair is a free, family event with over 330 arts and craft vendors, 40 food vendors, 4 stages, a children’s area and a whole lot of fun! The Street Fair is located in downtown Wilmington on Water, Front, and Market Street. The food vendors have the staples- funnel cakes, fresh made lemonade, gyros, kettle corn and ice cream but if you’re looking for something more adventurous; a deep fried Oreo or an eight-pound gummy bear will be sure to hit the spot!
April 9th – USS Battleship NC 75th Anniversary Celebration
Join us and our “living history crew” – active Marines in WWII attire bringing the Battleship to life on Saturday, April 9th! At 1:15 PM, there will be a Special Cake Cutting for all guests and an appearance by Queen Azalea and other Celebrity Guests with patriotic music.
April 9th – Fireworks
A favorite Festival event, the fireworks are presented over the majestic Cape Fear River. Come early to pick out your best viewing spot!
April 10th – Historic Home Tour
The North Carolina Azalea Festival Home Tour is an annual event held by the Historic Wilmington Foundation. Proceeds from the Home Tour will advance the Historic Wilmington Foundation’s efforts to protect and preserve the irreplaceable historic resources of Wilmington and the Lower Cape Fear region. Since 1966, the foundation has successfully saved more than 200 historic properties from demolition.
