State park covering 761 acres on Pleasure Island. The park features six miles of hiking trails, a marina, campsites, cabins, picnic area and a visitors center featuring natural history exhibits. Various carnivorous plant species can be found on site.

Fort Fisher State Recreation Area

287-acre state park including Fort Fisher, the site of a major naval engagement during the American Civil War and a museum. The area also features an oceanfront beach pavilion, large lagoon popular for windsurfers and a long stretch of beach accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles only. The beach is a nesting ground for sea turtles.
