Shakespeare on the Green

Cape Fear Shakespeare presents “Love’s Labour’s Lost” at Greenfield Lake. One of the Bard’s earliest comedies, the play follows the King of Navarre and his three lords (Berowne, Longaville, and Dumaine), who swear an oath to scholarship, which includes fasting and avoiding contact with women for three years. Chaos ensues. Picnics welcome. Light refreshments will available for purchase.

NC Blueberry Festival

The 16th Annual NC Blueberry Festival in downtown Burgaw celebrates the historic, economic, and cultural significance of blueberries in the southeastern region of the state. The event features a BBQ cookoff, car show, bike race, BMX stunt show, games and rides for kids, model train show, recipe contest, and a shagging competition plus live music.

Southport Spring Kitchen Tour

This exciting event will showcase six select kitchens centered near Keziah Park in historic downtown Southport. You’ll also enjoy tasting samples of delicious dessert recipes from the book “Hominy Muffins and Oyster Pie – The Lives and Recipes of the Ladies of Southport in 1907,” by Southport resident Bob Surridge. A local historic character will “come to life” in each kitchen and tell you a little about the vintage dessert recipes and the history behind them.

New & Full Moon Paranormal Ghost Tours

Poplar Grove will host guided ghost tours throughout the Manor House, back courtyard, tenant house and cemetery. Deceased members of the Foy family household still make their presence known in particular rooms of the house, and there are lots of stories to share of how they have introduced themselves over the years.

Jacksonville Parks & Rec and Onslow County Health Department are joining forces for a fun and relaxing morning of fishing. Event is open to youth up to 16 years of age. Participants will need to provide their fishing pole, bait and tackle.
