The memorial Day Observance at the Battleship NC in Wilmington is a chance to remember those who gave their lives in service to the USA. The event features an all-service Color Guard, 1 21-gun salute by a Marine Corps Honor Guard, a military band, Taps, a memorial wreath cast into the waters, and keynote speakers. Memorial Day Observance & Parade

Historic Downtown Southport
The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of N Lord and W 10th streets and down Leonard Street to the John N. Smith Cemetery, where a Memorial Ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m.
Southport’s Annual Memorial Day Observance, Days of Remembrance, will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Southport Community Building, 223 E Bay Street. The remembrance ceremony will honor those who served in the United States armed forces and conclude with the firing of the Historical Society’s cannon “Thor.”

Memorial Day Ceremony & Lejeune Memorial Gardens Tour

Honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country with a memorial ceremony at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. MGen Robert Dickerson (Ret) will be the guest speaker. The ceremony is hosted by the Beirut Memorial Chapter 642 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Following the ceremony, guests are encouraged to continue their reflection and remembrance with a self-guided tour of the Lejeune Memorial Gardens, just across the street from the ceremony. Guests can visit the second largest Vietnam Memorial in the country, the Beirut Memorial, the 9/11 Memorial Beam, the Montford Point Marine Memorial, and the largest Eagle, Globe & Anchor sculpture in the USA.
