The inaugural Real Households Fundraiser is presented by the Cape Fear Housing Coalition and features eight home tours including Habitat for Humanity, Cape Fear Community Land Trust, and Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry. Ticket price includes a shuttle between homes and raffle entry. Proceeds benefit the Cape Fear Housing Coalition, dedicated to increasing access to affordable, safe, and healthy housing.

This year’s Southern Living Idea House is at Bald Head Island and is open for tours! Southern Living magazine, working with various partners, built a laid-back coastal home that embodies the no-hurries, no-worries vibe of Bald Head Island. This one-of-a-kind home is an authentic Carolina coastal getaway. While it’s open to the public, you can tour the home to see how they balanced livable and lively ideas. The home, designed to provide creative ideas and inspiration for prospective and current homeowners, will remain open throughout the summer and on select weekends in the fall. The house is showcased in a 24-page article in the August issue of Southern Living.

A 1 mile “turtle trot,” 5K walk/run and 1/2 marathon over the Holden Beach bridge will be the main event. This event is part of the four-race series that allows runners to traverse the island’s picturesque bridge.

Swansboro Parks and Recreation is partnering with Lady Swan Boat Tours to offer a Thursday Sunset Cruise on the third Thursday of every month. Join us aboard the Lady Swan for a 2-hour relaxing and scenic cruise around historic downtown Swansboro, the intra-coastal waterway, and nearby Huggins Island, a part of Hammocks Beach State Park. Enjoy the sights and sounds of being on the water and if you’re lucky you may get a glimpse of some local wildlife. The cruise will end watching a beautiful Swansboro sunset.
