Wine and Food Festival

May 11th to May 14th

Admission: $5

The 5th Annual Wilmington Wine & Food Festival at Bellamy Mansion in downtown Wilmington, NC, features local and statewide culinary masters, special guest chef dinners, bartender challenges, wine and food samplings, live music, and a food truck rodeo with local breweries. Proceeds benefit local charities.

 

Fire Fighter’s Fitness Challenge

May 13th at 8:00am

Admission: $120

The Wilmington Professional Fire Fighter’s Fitness Challenge & Run at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater- Rotary Park begins with a 4.5-mile run followed by a multi-phase cross-training event filled with a combination of strength and cardio events. The fitness challenge is limited to 30 teams. So, sign up now!!

Battleship Alive

May 20th from 8:00am – 5:00pm

Admission: $6.00 – $14.00

Battleship Alive at the Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington features a chance to experience life on the ship during World War II. Engage with re-enactors as they perform daily duties and drills.

Rodeo Fishing Tournament

May 18th – May 20th

Entry Fee: $800

Old Baldy Lighthouse is the oldest standing lighthouse in North Carolina; and in honor of Old Baldy’s 200th birthday, Bald Head Island is bringing back the Fishing Rodeo! Not only does the island have easy access to the gulf stream, this event is anticipated to attract local fishermen to its beauty and charm.


Sunset Beach Concerts

May 24th through September 6th

The Sunset Beach Summer Concert series starts May 24th! They have planned a fantastic 2017 season and will be holding the concerts on the lawn in Village Park. This is the only venue in town where you can catch beach, blues, rock, pop, Motown, bluegrass, and country music. The gazebo is on Queen Anne Street and the concerts are free to the public.

Memorial Day Celebration

May 18th at 4:00pm

The Town of Shallotte is proud to hold a special Memorial Day celebration to honor all veterans for their many sacrifices.  Following the ceremony will be the first of the SummerFest free concert, with the Wilmington Big Band, a 17-piece orchestra performing the original American art of big band music, timeless standards and pop tunes.

Roots of Love Yoga Festival

May 20th at 9:00am

Admission: $60

The Roots of Love Yoga Festival is a celebration that brings together the very best world class yoga instructors, wellness experts and healthy living guides in a celebration of the spirit of the island. By coming together to explore ways to find a happier, healthier more peaceful life, we can begin to affect positive change in our community and ultimately in the world around us. A variety of yoga classes and meditations will be offered throughout the day for all abilities of yogis to participate.

 

Volunteer Salt Marsh Planting

May 17th at 10:00am

The North Carolina Coastal Federation is offering an opportunity to participate in efforts to protect and restore salt marshes and oyster habitats; enhance public access and recreation; and expand shellfish growth activities at the Morris Landing Clean Water Preserve in the Stump Sound area of Onslow County.
