Port City ranked 13th among U.S. cities by financial website
The Port City has gotten a green thumbs-up in a website’s list of environmentally friendly cities.
Financial advising website www.ValuePenguin.com placed Wilmington 13th in its 2016 Most Environmentally Friendly Cities report. The report ranks cities based on 15 metrics like energy consumption, bicycle-friendliness, LEED-certified buildings and availability of park space.
A total 200 metropolitan areas were included, with Santa Cruz-Watsonville, California, Gainesville, Florida, and Santa Rosa, California, taking the top three spots.
Wilmington and Chapel Hill-Durham, which tied with Madison, Wisconsin, for 11th, were the only North Carolina municipalities to make the top 20.
